Trail Maintenance
2010 Schedule
No more scheduled Trail Days for June... check back in July. If you're keen to help out, join our Facebook page 'SORCA Trail Maintenance' for updates about where we're working, and how to get involved.
Also, if you're looking to earn an entry into the Test of Metal, the trail crew needs help from volunteers, and you can earn a spot by contributing 12 hours of trailwork. Contact Barry for more info... dhtrails@sorca.ca
Tracks from Hell - May 1st
This turned out to be our best day yet. 43 people total volunteered their beautiful Saturday and fixed this trail for good. We managed to armour the entire trail, drain it well with large ditches and culverts, and blanketed it in gold dirt. The trail alignment is exactly the same, but with proper drainage and the right material. SORCA would like to shout out a big red thank-you to Ted and Dream Wizards Events, for volunteering 3 days of machine time.

Larvicide - April 24th
6 people came out to work in the rain, and we cleaned up the the loose stuff on the rocks, put the bridge back into place, and did some hardcore masonry on the last pitch, making the gnarliest trail in Squamish rollable again.
Sweeter the Berry - March 27th, April 3rd
We held 2 trail days on the new climb to the top of The Maker this spring, and managed to get the whole thing pedal-able to the top. It's a grunt... but definitely doable! Thanks everyone for all your hard work, this one's going to be a classic...
Last year SORCA and the Squamish trails had the biggest volunteer year ever. Over 1000 hours were put back into our trails, all by hard working volunteers like yourselves.
2010 is going to be a crucial year for our trails. With the official recognition of some trails through the Forest and Range Practices Act (Section 57), we're moving into a new era of trails being recognized by government as an asset worth protecting, something that's been dreamed of for years.
On the flipside, though, many of our favourite riding areas are under continued threat. Irresponsible shuttling during heavy rains, rotting stunts that are liabilities, and enchroaching development are all contributing towards our network's degradation. By volunteering with SORCA you can ensure that we offset these negative impacts, and keep our trails in mint shape.
After all, without trails, there's no riding. Working on the trails is also an easy, fun way to get involved in the biking community and meet new like-minded people. Check this page or the SORCA announcements to keep up on where and when we're working. See you out there...
