When COVID-19 hit in March, we had to take a hard look at our budgets and scale down to the essentials. As for many people, everything looked uncertain! Dave Reid and Ben Haggar, our two core trail crew, have been hard at work on the trails since then, but our plans for a bigger crew were on hold.

Now, we’ve surpassed 1800 members (incredible!!) and the funds from your memberships are helping us to bring on two new Crew members for the summer. A grant from Canada Summer Jobs is also making this possible.

Meet Daphnee, and welcome back Louis-Phillippe!

Daphnee Tuzlak

“I am looking forward to learning from Squamish legends on the SORCA Trail Crew this summer! As a mountain biker, trail runner, and dog walker, I enjoy exploring the vast trail network and spending time in the forest – especially right after it rains. I’m excited to learn about building and maintaining trails that complement the landscape and integrate with natural processes.”

Louis-Phillippe Moreau:

“I am so pumped to be back on the Trail Crew for a third season! I had a pretty serious knee injury in March and I was not sure if I would be able to trail build this summer. But all my hard work on rehab and physio paid off! I got cleared to start working again a few weeks ago and I am feeling stronger than ever. I can’t wait to spend some time in the woods making Squamish networks live up to their reputation!”

Give them a wave when you see them out on the trails!
