Trail CHAMPS

You can be a Trail CHAMP for $5000 a year, plus any costs associated with your optional trail day (see below).

Your funds support:

•   SORCA Trail Crew hours, tools and equipment.  These will be used to ensure your sponsored trail is maintained in excellent shape.
•   SORCA’s advocacy efforts for mountain biking and multi-use trails in the Squamish area.
•   Administrative costs of running the CHAMPs program, including branding, signage, and promoting your participation through our community networks.

Exact cost breakdowns will depend on the trail and the work required in any given year.

You choose the trail you want to champion from a list, on a first-come first-served basis. The amount of work that each trail receives from our trail crew varies on a year-to-year basis.  Sponsored trails are local favorites, and the SORCA trail crew ensures that those trails are given priority in the maintenance schedule.

We ask for an annual commitment. After you’ve sponsored a trail once, you will have first right of refusal to sponsor it again in future years.

We already put considerable resources into maintaining the trails included in the Trail CHAMPS program this year so don’t expect major changes.  Yearly maintenance work performed on each trail will depend on the nature of the trail and what is required. Some trails may only require hand work (brushing, dirt work, etc.), while others may require contracted machine work.

In addition to connecting with the incredible mountain biking community in Squamish, you will be recognized at our Black Diamond sponsorship level. This includes 5 SORCA memberships for the year, logo visibility on our website and on our e-newsletter, and social media recognition.

You will also get, for the year of your sponsorship:

•      Your business name on a sign at the top of your sponsored trail,
•      Your logo on the Trailforks page for your sponsored trail,
•      An optional trail day to engage your staff, clients, community, and the wider mountain biking community.

If you want to contribute even more to the community, we offer Trail CHAMPs trails to most of our Black Diamond ($5000+) and Double Black Diamond ($10,000+) sponsors. Some eligibility conditions apply.

You are not required to organize a trail day on your trail – we can do the heavy lifting for you! If you are keen to get your hands dirty, you can work with our Trail Crew to organize a volunteer trail day on your sponsored trail.

For your trail day, you will:

• Provide snacks/lunch
• Cover the cost of any extra tools required based on expected volunteer numbers – we will bring our existing arsenal
• Recruit volunteers through your networks. SORCA can also open up your trail day to the public, if you would like to connect with the broader volunteer community.

Trail days are a fantastic team building event and a good way to get your community out enjoying Squamish’s outdoors. Volunteers work with one of our experienced Trail Crew staff, who will determine the work plan, provide a safety talk, and instruct volunteers on what they have to do.

The original trail sponsors are the volunteers that built the trails in the first place. Some of these builders remain involved, to varying degrees, in the ongoing maintenance of some of our favourite trails. We could not maintain such an incredible network of trails without the hard work of volunteers, and we consult with them to coordinate maintenance work.
