how to get involved.

There are so many ways to get involved at SORCA. From our memberships and volunteer work, to donating and sponsoring, we want you to be a part of our Community. Find out more about how to get in on the action below.

VOLUNTEER

The Squamish trail network would simply not exist without the contributions that volunteers have made over the past three decades. Volunteer work forms the backbone of our organization. We need volunteers for dig days, events, the Board, our committees, and more. You can find more information and opportunities to sign up below!

  • Throughout the season we host trail days (dig days), big and small. These are organized events where we get people out on the trails to dig, build, and maintain. These are great opportunities to learn about trail maintenance and meet other mountain bike enthusiasts - no experience necessary.

Find out more about our dig days, by clicking here.

  • We need flaggers, trail marshalls, course sweeps, and general help for socials and races (cincos). Our social rides and our races are entirely volunteer organized. All volunteers will receive a free ticket to the apres. Like dig days, no experience necessary.

  • If you have other skills you would like to provide to SORCA, like writing grants, photography, or leading trail days, we would love to hear from you. Additionally, if you have any feedback on how we can improve our volunteering experiences, please contact us at info@sorca.ca

MEMBERSHIPS

Help maintain our trails, meet other riders, enjoy some awesome events, have fun! SORCA membership is available for everyone, young and old. If you ride Squamish trails on a regular basis, or it’s a regular riding destination, a membership is for you! All funds go back into trail maintenance and advocacy, ensuring the trails you love are kept in great shape. We can also leverage these funds to get grants for larger trail projects.

    • Amazing local trails: exciting new ones, and well-maintained classics.

    • Trail advocacy and planning. SORCA works with land managers, owners and other user groups towards sustainability and preservation of existing trails and future trail options.

    • Awesome weekly events, including Cinco Races, Social Rides, and epic parties put on by our amazing community partners and sponsors. These include food, beverages, prizes, and good times with friends.

    • Member-exclusive discounts at local bike shops and other bike-friendly businesses

    • All memberships need to be purchased online. There will be no memberships sold at SORCA events. Online purchase requires a credit card. Those who do not have access to a credit card can contact us regarding alternate payment methods.

  • Not only does your membership give you major trail karma, a voice for advocacy, invitations to a ton of fun races and rides – you also get discounts!

    2024 Membership Discounts include:

You could easily pay for your membership just in savings alone. Support these businesses that not only give back to mountain biking, they’re also giving back to you! Show your digital membership card to local vendors to receive applicable discounts. Some conditions may apply with these discounts, so check with each individual business for details. If your business would like to offer SORCA discounts and promote your business to our members, send us a message.

  • Memberships run from January to December and are not pro-rated.

    • Adult | $60

    • Family | $120 (Up to two adults and two children living at the same address. $20 for each additional child)

    • Student Membership | $30 (24 and under with proof of student number)

    • Trail Runner | $60

Trail runners and mountain bikers have at least one thing in common – they both rely on and love our community’s trails. For runners looking to give back, join us and support the Squamish trails.

The Trail Runner membership has all the same perks as a regular adult membership, but this way we can keep track of runner members and start looking into how we might be able to expand our perks!

    • Local Legend | $250

Being a Local Legend isn’t about being the best, most extreme rider on the trails. To us, it is about getting out on our trails, enjoying the network, building community and helping ensure that the trails are taken care of and maintained for years to come.

The Local Legend membership has all the perks of regular membership with the additional funds going the extra mile, giving directly back to the trails through trail maintenance, new trail builds, facilities development and trail-related advocacy efforts.

    • Corporate Membership (Includes 5 memberships for staff) | $500

Liability insurance for SORCA is included in your membership. Members are NOT insured for personal injury and liability.

support conservation funds

A big part of SORCA’s mandate is to advocate for trails and by extension greenspaces in the Squamish area. We’re setting up a standing fund to help these efforts directly. SORCA’s conservation approach is to work collaboratively with stakeholders to find solutions that work for as many people as possible. We’ve got a number of conservation initiatives surrounding our high value trail areas on the go and will continue to keep our members informed as they progress. If you’d like to donate directly to this fund, please include ‘Conservation Fund’ in your comment when making the donation.

  • Some examples of ways that this fund is used include:

    • Hiring of experts to aid us advocate to government and other stakeholders

    • Purchasing of forestry rights for important pieces of land.

    • Planning processes to facilitate the long term protection of our trail network.

    • Programs that educate the public about the importance of trails and greenspaces to our local culture and economy.
