5-year cut plan - Squamish community forest
The Squamish Community Forest and its professional forestry team at Chartwell Resource Group have prepared a draft plan for timber harvesting over the next five years. The Draft Five Year Harvest Proposal includes proposed cut blocks throughout Squamish’s front country, including in areas used by SORCAs members for mountain biking and other recreational activities. The harvest map and information summary can be accessed through the following link: Five Year Harvest Proposal (squamishcommunityforest.org).
The Community Forest now welcomes public feedback on the Draft Five Year Harvest Proposal. We encourage you to review the information and to share your insights and concerns regarding the proposal by emailing squamishcommunityforest@gmail.com. SORCA’s advocacy committee has been actively reviewing the Draft Proposal and will be providing feedback on behalf of SORCA’s members in the coming months. If you have any trail-specific concerns you’d like the committee to consider in their formal feedback on the Draft Proposal, please email Brennan@sorca.ca.
In collaboration with the Community Forest and Chartwell, SORCA is actively working to develop a trail-specific FAQs document, which will be shared in the coming weeks to provide additional clarity and information on community forest operations. The Draft Five-Year Harvest Plan will have a noticeable effect on the landscapes that we all enjoy when on the trails – your input matters! SORCA thanks all those who take the time to review this proposal in detail and provide feedback.
