Miki’s magic - full trail now open
The original 800m 2-part Miki’s Magic trail was built in memory of Mikayla Martin, a local world champion ski racer and an all-around great person who tragically passed away in October 2019. The trail was built as an accessible jump/flow trail to emulate some of the sensations that ski cross racers feel. As of Saturday, July 6th, the community is pleased to officially open the two lower sections, more than doubling the original trail's length and resulting in 1.7 km of accessible blue-flow fun. The trail is also easily ‘lapable’ on both traditional and adaptive MTB’s as it runs adjacent to the Mashiter and Alice Ridge forest service roads.
Thanks in part to how much the community embraced the original build, Dream Wizards was an easy choice for SORCA to entrust in the design and construction of the extended trail. The build was suspended last spring due to conditions from BC Hydro, but with these now checked off, the trail has been given all approvals to be opened to the public. SORCA would also like to thank Dream Wizards and a small team of volunteers for building the 90-foot boardwalk near the trail's terminus at no cost!
This contractor project would not have been possible without a dedicated team of volunteers as well as funding and in-kind services from:
SORCA membership fees
Athletic Brewing
OneUp Components
Orthodynamics
Tourism Recovery Grant (Province of BC)
Fox Factory
